Calm: Mind, Body, Spirit

My Philosophy of Well Being

Every human being has the right and deserves to love and be kind to their body no matter how much you weigh, what you look like, or what kind of physical condition you are in. Americans have experienced a shift in eating habits due to high stress levels and fast paced lifestyles. Staying on track feels impossible, but there are ways we can take control. By starting small we can build our best physical form one step at a time. Mind, body, and spirit all work in conjunction with one another. Exercise not only helps improve our bodies physically, it also improves our mental state. When we have a positive outlook on life, doors open and things that seen impossible suddenly are achievable. Incorporating some form of exercise into your week is necessary for maintaining balance. Without the balance of mind body and spirit in your life, everyday tasks seem difficult and dealing with life can be hard.

It all boils down to perception. Do not view exercise as one more thing to add to your already full week. View exercise as a vessel which will invite peace, love, and harmony into your life. A shift in how you perceive exercise will allow you to welcome it as a healthy and necessary part of your life. We tend to think of ourselves as a physical body with a spirit inside. I believe we have that backwards. We need to think of ourselves as a spiritual being that has a physical body which needs care. In this way exercise nurtures the soul and maintains our physical body. Best of all the results are immediate. Go outside for a brief walk. Did you ever notice how it clears your head? Imagine how much better you would feel if you maintained a regular exercise routine. Don’t forget to love yourself!

I can speak from experience. I was over 200 lbs after my last child was born. I developed sleep apnea, gallbladder issues, pancreatitis, and a host of other health conditions related to being obese.  After I came out of the hospital I told myself that I would never allow my physical body to take control over the essence of who I really was inside. I started to train at the gym and results came slowly. More importantly, I started to feel better. Every aspect of my life began to change in a positive way. It was then that I learned about the power of inner strength through exercise.
