My books give children an opportunity to value others. My goal in writing is to help children realize that their existence plays an important role in our world. I wish for them to trust their thoughts and feelings. This will help them to feel connected to their emotions and understand that they are connected to everyone and everything.

"Where Is Love?"

Volume 1 and Volume 2

"Where Is Love?" is a set of whimsical books illustrated by my seven year old son, Gabriel.  These books remind adults to look for the positive qualities that life offers, while teaching children that love can be found in both obvious as well as obscure places.

Hear What Dr. Hefler and Dr. Mike have to say about Danielle and her books:

"Danielle Dolce's commitment to children's well-being as teacher, mother and now author is clear.  With her seven year old as illustrator and blank pages for the reader to use his/her creativity, this book is truly a labor of love.  This book demonstrates parents' most important task-for their children to know they are loved for who they are and not for what they do.  All the rest is details."
- Stephen E. Hefler, Pediatrician MD FAAP

Former Chairman Department of Pediatrics University Medical Center at Princeton, President and Medical Director, Princeton IPA

"A delightful children's book highlighting the power of love in life's unassuming simple things."
- Michael D. Cirigliano MD
Physician

How The Books Came Into Existence

It all started in 2008 on a cold winter day. My son Gabriel drew a picture of a whale and asked me if it reminded me of love. He made the tail into a heart and I made up a sentence to go along with the illustration expressing to him how his picture reminded me of love. He was very pleased and decided that it would be a good idea to hide some hidden hearts for me to find. It became a game. He asked me to come up with other sentences so that he could draw more illustrations and hide the hearts. Something came over me at that moment. Everything happened so fast. We effortlessly and unintentionally created an entire book in one afternoon. There were so many adorable illustrations that I needed to split the book into two volumes. It was at that moment that I felt a rush of adrenaline. I told Gabriel about my promise. I then intuitively knew the time had come for me to use this book to fulfill my promise.

We did not have a cover! A week later I sat down at my kitchen table to look at the beautiful freshly fallen snow when I saw a painting that Gabriel had made out of dot markers. It was a beautiful rainbow that I kept on our sliding door. He made it one day when I was calling everyone for dinner. I remember he was late coming to the table because he insisted on finishing a project, but when he came running into the kitchen with the beautiful finished rainbow my heart melted and I immediately hung it. I knew it would make the perfect cover because rainbows are a symbol of hope. After a storm there is a rainbow. After tragedy there is hope. It was symbolic for my life as well as for others I wish to help.

Special Thanks

I would like to give special thanks to the following special people:
  • My parents for teaching me that anything is possible through love.

  • My in-laws for helping out in so many ways.

  • My siblings for staying so strongly connected.

  • My husband for accepting me for all that I am.

  • My son Dominic, who has passed, for helping me understand how love can transcend.

  • My best friend “Mickey” Michelle who I have known since kindergarten and gives me constant and unlimited support.

A Seed

"Where Is Love?" is more than a book. It represents a seed that I planted long ago. It represents a garden that I wish to grow which will fulfill my promise. It represents hope.
